Spotlight on our Community Allies– Crime Victim Center of Erie County (CVC)

With almost 40 years of experience providing much needed services to Erie communities, the Crime Victim Center’s mission is to “reduce the impact of crime through counseling, prevention, education and advocacy”. With a strong focus on education and prevention, the CVC offers a wide variety of programing and seminars centered around such topics as bullying, internet safety, personal body safety and healthy relationships, just to name a few, with something for every demographic: from preschooler to senior citizen.

Crime Victim Center of Erie County is a valued partner and community ally of the Neighborhood Resource Organization (NRO). Neighborhood Associations and Watch Groups have access to a wide variety of presentations and Dan Gennaro, Community Outreach Assistant, says CVC the can help groups choose from existing programs or help develop custom material geared to meet the needs of their neighborhood.

“Crime Victims Services is available for those that need assistance, whether an event occurred a week ago or 15 years ago. All our services are available to the public a free of charge. Education is key to building awareness, which than leads to prevention. When people know resources are available and how to access them, they begin to understand that crime is preventable”, says Gennaro.

Dan may be reached via email at Dan.Gennaro@cvcerie.org or by calling 814-455-9414 or 1-800-352-7273. Neighbors can also contact the Crime Victim Center for other Confidential Services by calling the numbers above.
